MICROCHIPS AND WHAT THEY MEAN TO YOU
We use the Res Q microchip system which is accepted by the shelters in the Denver area, as well as those all across the country and around the world. If a pet should become lost or stolen, the microchip allows a shelter or veterinarian to locate the original owner and call that person for a wonderful reunion! Microchips are placed by a veterinarian under the skin at the top of the shoulder in a procedure similar to receiving a vaccination. The chip has no power of its own. It is activated to send a transmitted code to the chip scanner by the reader itself. There are no parts to wear out and the microchip will last the life of the animal. No two chips have the same code, therefore, your pet's chip is forever unique. Many clients ask if it is possible for the chip to do harm or migrate within the animal. The answer to both questions is a very assured no. These chips are very safe and have a biologically compatible coating which keeps the chip from migrating. Many times clients have pets which are strictly indoors or are confined to a yard. These clients wonder why they would ever need a microchip implanted in their pet. The fact is, most pets will never need a chip, but unforeseen escapes have happened many times. We can relate many stories of pets which managed to get away because of a blown down fence or an open gate. The chip is a cheap, easy way to have your friend come back home again safely.
