There are many factors to consider when choosing a Denver veterinary practice. Here is a look at some of the important aspects of our practice to aide in your decision of choosing a veterinarian.
Diagnostics
At Mesa Veterinary Hospital, we have a wide array of diagnostic
tools that aid us in determining the cause of your pet's illness so
that we may develop a targeted, specific treatment plan.
Laboratory
We have a full line of IDEXX in house laboratory equipment that
allows us to run hematology, blood chemistries, and urinalyses for
emergency or urgent cases, when an answer is needed immediately.
For all other laboratory needs we have access to a full diagnostic
laboratory and can have your pet's labwork back in many cases within
24 hours. Our wet lab allows us to run urine cultures in house
to save you time and money and to analyze ear, fecal, skin, and mass
cytologies.
Radiology
Our digital radiology suite allows us to obtain high quality
x-rays of your dog in a shorter amount of time than conventional
radiology. We can manipulate the images digitally, allowing us
to take fewer exposures and resulting in lower radiation exposure to
your pet. In addition to our veterinarians reading the films,
every film is read by a veterinary board certified radiologist once
weekly.
Ultrasound
Unique to most Denver veterinary hospitals, Mesa Veterinary Hospital offers ultrasound services. This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Dr. Pugh, our radiologist, spends the afternoon at Mesa Veterinary Hospital every Thursday performing ultrasounds. Ultrasonography offers us a look inside your pet's abdomen and chest in a way that radiographs cannot provide. If your pet needs an urgent ultrasound performed, we can usually arrange to have one performed that same day. Pregnancy exams are also available.
Echocardiogram
If a heart problem is detected in your pet, an echocardiogram may
be recommended. Our hospital is fortunate to have Karen Sanderson, DVM, DACVIM (and head of cardiology at Alpenglow Veterinary Hospital), visit our clinic to perform echocardiograms and cardiology consults. This ensures our heart patients receive optimal treatment and monitoring. These tests
can help us determine if there is a leaky or misshapen heart valve,
a thickening or dilation of the heart, or a structural defect in the
heart, among other things.
Endoscopy and Bronchoscopy
High-tech fiber optics permit direct visual examination and biopsies of your pet’s gastrointestinal and respiratory systems. This allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of oral, esophageal, nasal, bronchial, stomach, colon and even upper intestinal tract disease. If you are looking for a Denver veterinary professional that is a leader in these procedures, Mesa Vet Hospital is the right choice for your pet thanks to its staff and specialized equipment. Foreign objects can also be removed without the need for surgery in certain cases.
