Complementary Medicine

AcupunctureAcupuncture

Acupuncture is the insertion of small needles into specific points on the body to cause a desired healing effect.  Mesa Veterinary Hospital works with Dr. Nancy Tharp to provide this valuable service to our patients.  Dr Tharp is certified in veterinary acupuncture and utilizes this healing art to provide relief for a large variety of medical conditions.

Laser Therapy

Dr. Tharp uses a Class IV therapeutic laser on many patients with both acute and chronic problems.  Lasers work by using light energy to penetrate tissue and induce production of molecules at the cellular level that aid in tissue healing and regeneration.  This results in an improvement in wound healing, lessening of acute and chronic pain, and in some cases an improvement in neurologic function.

Canine Massage

Massage is a therapeutic tool that can aid many pets with acute or chronic conditions or who are recovering from surgery.  Canine massage is offered at MVH by Mathew Allen, ESMT, CCMT, IAAMT.  Matt is a lifetime member of the International Association of Animal Massage Therapists and holds a lifetime certification in canine massage therapy and equine sports massage therapy.  He has been helping pets with massage since 2001.
